Biography
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Denver specializing in adults with anxiety and OCD. I founded Anxiety Solutions in 2010. I am also one of Psychology Today’s official expert contributors on anxiety and OCD. I write a blog for Psychology Today’s website, Understanding the Anxious Mind. I have also written for the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and have been featured/quoted in The Washington Post, HuffPost, The Denver Post, Bustle, Psych Central, and more.
In addition to seeing clients myself, I oversee all of the clinical work at Anxiety Solutions of Denver through supervision and case consultation with all of our therapists.
I love my work! I enjoy treating anxiety and OCD and chose to specialize in this area because therapy for anxiety disorders is very effective, and because I discovered I had a talent for it early on in my doctoral training. I find it to be a very personally rewarding specialty because the vast majority of people that I see for anxiety or OCD get dramatically better.
My core values as a therapist are effectiveness, integrity, and service. I got into clinical psychology because of this core value of service: It is important to me to have a career where I help people reduce their suffering and live fuller, more vital, more meaningful lives. As a therapist, I get to work towards this goal in unique, exciting, and personal ways.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University and my Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. I founded and have served as President of the International OCD Foundation’s Denver affiliate, OCD Colorado. I was trained as a behavioral therapist and am well-versed in Exposure Therapy and other forms of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Prior to starting Anxiety Solutions, I gained experience treating anxiety disorders and OCD in community mental health centers, college counseling programs, outpatient clinics, an employee assistance program, and the University of Colorado Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine.
I also enjoy teaching and training students and other mental health practitioners in the treatment of anxiety and OCD.
In my spare time, I hang out with my amazing wife and our 2 kids. I am also an avid skier, restaurant lover, console gamer (Switch and Playstation), and NBA fan (I root for whatever team LeBron is on).
