Biography
I choose to work with anxiety and OCD because I want to help people live their lives more fully. I trained at Anxiety Solutions of Denver during my graduate training and grew to admire the effort and bravery of my clients working to overcome anxiety and OCD. I enjoy the work so much that I decided to return to Anxiety Solutions and spend my career helping people with anxiety.
I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver. I previously received a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver. I completed my predoctoral internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Correctional Institute in Tallahassee, Florida and my postdoctoral fellowship at Anxiety Solutions of Denver. I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the states of Colorado and Pennsylvania.
In my free time, I enjoy pursuing strength training (specifically powerlifting), as I enjoy the personal challenge, achievement, mental toughness, and consistency required to improve. I am the owner of a wonderful chocolate Labrador, named Jake, who has been a constant companion for the last seven years. I am also an avid reader, gamer (both video games and table-top/board games), and tennis player. I am also a huge Baltimore Ravens fan, which, given that I was raised outside of Pittsburgh, has always had hilarious results during rivalry games.
Q&A with Dr. Camaione:
What would your clients say about you as a therapist?
My clients would say that I am direct/blunt and care a lot about them reaching their goals in treatment. They would also say that I am relatable and embrace nerd culture. I’ve had quite a few adolescent and younger clients shocked that I fluently speak gamer/anime/manga language.
What’s your favorite movie?
All time favorite movies are tough to pick from, since I’m a massive movie buff. If I needed to pick top movies, it would be these in no particular order: Ocean’s Eleven (remake), The Boondock Saints, LOTR trilogy (extended editions of course), and the Lion King (aka Hamlet the musical with animals).
What is your favorite TV show?
I’m a huge fan of sci-fi, so I’d go with my top 3 science fiction shows: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica (remake), and Stargate SG-1.
What is your favorite video game?
My favorite video game of all time is the original Final Fantasy VII. I love turn-based RPGs and am always on the lookout for the next great one. I’m also a big fan of rogue-likes and Destiny 2 (I’m a PVP main).
Do you play an instrument?
I play both piano and alto sax. I actually have my electric piano set-up in my office and will sometimes play OST from different video games if I have some gaps between sessions (I am an unabashed nerd).
What is your favorite type of food?
My favorite foods are definitely a really good steak and sushi.
Do you have any pets?
I have an older chocolate Labrador Retriever, named Jake, who will sometimes make appearances during sessions.
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Hm, probably vocal coaches’ reaction videos on YouTube. Particularly ones that react to one of my favorite bands, Nightwish, because Floor Jansen is probably one of the best female vocalists on the planet. Those and an extended edition marathon of LOTR during the winter.
What are your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobbies are gaming, powerlifting, and checking out new restaurants/breweries/wineries. While I love hiking and getting outdoors, I’m definitely more of an indoorsy human.
