Coming to Anxiety Solutions was life-changing for me. My anxiety symptoms drastically lessened and over time they have nearly disappeared entirely.
Is Your Child Overly Worried or Fearful?
As a parent, it is understandable to be concerned and confused if your child or teen appears highly anxious.
Fortunately, your child can be helped by an experienced anxiety therapist.
We use a unique anxiety counseling approach that is proven to provide excellent results with children and teens.
In fact, research shows that the type of therapy we use works better for anxiety and obsessive behaviors in children and teens than ANY other method.
If you are looking for help with your child or adolescent’s excessive insecurities, fears or obsessive behaviors (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD) you are probably feeling confused and helpless.
Having an anxious child or teen can be incredibly difficult. It hurts to watch your child suffer. You don’t know why they get so anxious sometimes and you don’t know what to do when it happens. You probably feel frustrated and worried about their future.
You wonder how it all started. You wonder why they get anxious at certain times but not others. You might even wonder if it’s your fault.
Perhaps your child’s anxiety is causing them to fail at school and miss out on social opportunities. Or their anxiety makes them defiant and you cannot get them to listen to you. It may even seem like the whole family has gotten sucked into dealing with your child’s anxiety. You feel like you’ve tried everything you can think of, but nothing works.
You are desperate for relief, for both your child and yourself.
At Anxiety Solutions, we specialize in treating children and teens with anxiety and OCD. Unlike many other therapists or psychologists, our practice is highly focused on anxiety.
Here are some things parents often say when they bring their anxious child to therapy:
-
- “I have no idea what to do when my child gets anxious. Nothing works. It’s out of control.”
- “I feel helpless. I want to make my child stop worrying, but I can’t.”
- “My teen is doing poorly in school because of the anxiety. What will happen to him if this doesn’t get better?
- “My child won’t talk to other kids. I’m worried she won’t make friends.”
- “My child doesn’t listen when they get anxious.”
- “I don’t understand why this is happening. Is this my fault?”
- “I get so angry with them but I feel guilty about that…I just don’t know what to do.”
- “Will they always be so fearful? “
The types of anxiety we treat in our counseling practice include:
-
- Worrying Too Much About What Might Go Wrong (Generalized Anxiety Disorder):
Your child may spend a lot of time worrying excessively and shows signs of being highly anxious. It could be about school, their friends, the family, their health, or their safety. It seems like they always find something to be fretting about. They probably need constant reassurance from you. - Obsessive or Repetitive Behaviors (OCD: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder):
If your child gets stuck on certain thoughts or can’t stop repeating some odd behaviors, they may have OCD. This can be a debilitating problem that seems to prevent them from having a normal life. Their behavior may seem very strange. Some common OCD compulsions include hand-washing, repeating basic actions over and over, checking doors/locks, or repeating certain words or phrases. They might always have to feel “just right” before doing anything. - Irrational Fears in Social Situations (Social Anxiety Disorder):
Your child might dread social functions and try to make excuses to get out of them. They seem very shy and have trouble making friends. They may be able to converse with you but act very quiet with other people. In its most extreme form, they might even be afraid of going out in public at all. - Panic Attacks (Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia):
Panic or anxiety attacks are very intense bursts of anxiety that seem to come out of nowhere. Your child may tell you they feel sick or dizzy. They may appear to have trouble breathing or tell you that their heart is racing. Children and teens who have panic attacks often refuse to go certain places because they are worried about triggering an anxiety attack. At its most severe, they may not want to leave home at all. - Refusal to go to school (School Anxiety/Separation Anxiety Disorder):
Many children refuse to go to school because of their irrational fears. Your child may report feeling sick in the morning before school but then seem to get better once they are allowed to stay home. They may be afraid of something at school or scared of being apart from you. This can lead to excessive absences from school. - Fear of a specific object or situation (Phobias):
Your child becomes very anxious in the presence of certain objects or situations. Common childhood phobias include fears of vomiting, animals, doctors, certain foods, and bad weather. If your child has a phobia, it may dominate their thinking. It can seem like they are always focused on avoiding the thing they’re afraid of.
- Worrying Too Much About What Might Go Wrong (Generalized Anxiety Disorder):

Wondering if our anxiety therapy can really help
your child or teen get over their fears?
You might find it hard to believe that anything could relieve your child of their overwhelming anxiety. This is understandable since you have probably tried very hard for a long time to help them, but nothing has worked. Maybe you’ve even taken your child to therapy before but found it unsuccessful. Perhaps it will help if we tell you why we feel we are the child and teen therapists best-suited to help:
-
- We use a specialized, research-proven form of anxiety therapy. We practice a type of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) called Exposure Therapy that is known to bring the best results in treating anxiety in children and teenagers. We are among the few counselors in the the areas where we are located who have expertise in this technique with children and teens.
- As specialists, we only treat anxiety clients. This means all of our time is focused on studying and applying the most recent and effective scientifically proven anxiety treatment methods. We can confidently assure you that your child will receive the absolute best quality of treatment available.
- We incorporate you in your child’s treatment. We offer parent coaching sessions. Research has shown that kids whose parents are more involved with counseling tend to have better outcomes in therapy. We therefore either involve you in your child’s counseling sessions or offer separate parent coaching sessions.
We will show you exactly what to do when your child gets anxious at home. You will feel so relieved that you finally have the tools to help your child. We will help you deal with your child’s disruptions and get them to listen. - We do more than just sit and listen: we will show you and your child exactly what to DO about anxiety.
While we are of course empathic and supportive, we offer so much more. We are active, direct and actually show your child techniques that WILL help with their anxiety.
Furthermore, we’ll do just about everything that we ask your child or adolescent to do with them. We’ll go with them to wherever we need to go in order to help them overcome their fears—whether it’s your home or some other place or situation that makes them anxious. We’ll actually be with them as they work through their fears. Our counseling sessions are action-oriented and get proven results. - We provide extra support outside of scheduled therapy sessions.
We also offer phone or email guidance in between counseling sessions when you or your child need extra support. In short, we do whatever it takes to help your child get the relief they deserve. We act as their partner; we want them to get better. - We have appointments in the evenings and all day on Saturday (depending on which therapist your child sees).
This makes it easy on your schedule, and you will not have to take your child out of school to be able to see us.
